The Patrick Henry High School Choral Department serves over a hundred students from all grade levels and builds them into well-rounded, talented, and knowledgeable musicians.

Located just outside the town of Ashland in Hanover County, VA, Patrick Henry HS boasts a vibrant and diverse school culture. Through our music department, students are offered the opportunity to take courses in band, chorus, strings, and music theory.

Our philosophy is that Music Education is intended to foster growth and change in a developing individual, to provide an opportunity not only for gaining music literacy and developing musicality, but also for learning in a socio-emotional capacity, instilling values in addition to knowledge. Music classes are essential to the well-being of every school culture.

Director Marc Lawson is excited about 2019-2020 being his first year teaching at Patrick Henry HS, although it will be his tenth year teaching choral music. Originally from rural central New York, Mr. Lawson holds degrees from Lehigh University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He directed choral programs at two schools, private and public, in a suburb of Charlotte. He looks forward to continuing the tradition of excellence with Patrick Henry's concert choir and show choir offerings."
